Being His Mother

When he smiles as I walk into the room.
When he laughs at my funny noises.
When he reaches for me to pick him up.
When he quiets as I soothe him.
When he grins as we make eye contact.
When he lies his head on my shoulder as I sing him to sleep.
When he looks at me as I feed him.
When he cries for me.
When he breathes.

This is when I love being his mother.
